Here are some general guidelines to consider when choosing a wedding
photographer.
- Spend enough time with each photographer you speak
with to fully understand their particular style and package offerings.
- All examples of photography that the
photographer/studio show you should be crisp, clear, well composed images. The images
should not only show a vision, but they should convey emotion, passion, drama, and above
all
.love.
- Is the photographer familiar with the location of your
wedding? If not, will they visit the site prior to the wedding to evaluate potential
trouble spots, lighting, and other variables?
- Does the photographer/studio photograph weddings as
adjunct service, or are weddings the primary reason for their being in business? Try to
find one who is truly passionate about weddings.
- Ask the photographer/studio about the availability of
your wedding date.
- Ask the photographer/studio
"why should I
choose you to photograph my wedding?" Pay close attention to the answer to this
question. Look for something exciting and unique.
- Look for a photographer/studio where you interview the
actual photographer. Some studios will book your wedding date, but NOT guarantee who the
photographer will be. Be wary of these! You should know the photographer very well and
develop a sense of trust between you.
- Ask for a brochure to take home so that you can
compare the results of your search in the privacy of your own home.
- Many good photographers book wedding dates 12-18
months into the future
be diligent about your search and book early!
